Lots of Nice weather

Image
All of our pictures this week are from our walk on Friday.  Sorry there isn't much variety This email might be pretty short since I just sent out the last one on Wednesday.  So that is the day I will start with. Wednesday, Walt got his stitches out.  It was a quick appointment.  Everything looks good.  There is still some fluid there, but it will work itself out by a couple of weeks.  His knee is still a bit stiff, but he just needs to keep moving it and the fluid could be adding to the stiffness.  We worked at the Senior Center for lunch.  The favorite - roast beef.  We always have the biggest crowd for that meal.  We found some people to sit with that we haven’t sat with before and had a great conversation. This is a little red dot about midway in the picture.  That's our car. That evening, our ward had movie night.  Walt was supposed to get there at 6 pm to set it up.  I thought the event started at ...

A Hard Week

Renee about 5 years ago as a chef This is late getting out.  Renee Smith’s funeral was yesterday and Monday we spent the day helping with funeral prep and putting last minutes touches on my “talk” for the funeral. I think this week will have less details than normal since it is a longer than normal week.  Last Monday (2/10) we spent most of the day getting insurance problems corrected for Walt’s surgery.  It was a very long and frustrating day.  At one point, the surgery was cancelled.  At the last minute, the answers were different and things (as far as we know) are all taken care of.   Tuesday morning we drove to Rapid City, SD for his surgery.  The surgery hospital was very fancy and nice.  Lots of snack options, (except for the patient).  It looks more like a hotel than a surgery center.  Each patient has a small room with 2 loungers and a tv while they wait their turn.  It’s really nice and private.  His sur...

Adventures

Image
Welcome sign in the arena of the Rodeo We finally took a fun day this week.  We haven’t done this since Christmas.  It has been snowing off and on for the past week and we were ready to take an adventure.  Thursday, after seeing the town doctor (who I am very impressed with) for Walt’s pre-surgery work up, he found a fun place to visit that gives a huge discount to seniors on Thursdays.  We qualify because their idea of a senior is 55 yrs and older.  Hot Springs, SD is known for its natural mineral water hot springs (only 87 degrees actually).  There is a place there called the Plunge that has been there for over 100 years - remodeled many times, I am sure.  All the water is from this spring and its natural temperature.  We only had to pay $3 a piece.  The water was nice. And  I wouldn’t have minded a tad warmer, but considering it’s winter, pretty darn nice.  They also had two hot tubs, same kind of water though much hotter....
