Temple Celebration

This week has been quite the busy one, full of traveling, and other amazing experiences.   Monday we had Zone Conference.  This one was a bit different than others.  We had one of the Presidency of the Missions that cover the Southwest part of the United States.  He is Chinese and very energetic and straightforward about things.  His main messages included:  don’t do things for no reason - always have a purpose in mind (a goal), learn to become disciples of Jesus Christ (our missions are meant to be a learning and growing experience for us), and don’t just “try” - “do”.  Trying isn’t good enough - do it until you get right.  He also did a lot of hands on type of learning - almost like object lessons.  It was a really good Zone Conference. Sis Shamo, Sis Smouse, Me, Walt and behind us other Elders in our District Us and the Snyders at Zone Conference. On object lesson about not filling people we teach with more water than the...

Super Crazy Week

Finally found a cowboy hat for me at the thrift store.  Now we're twins I think we left off last week with Monday being covered.  Maybe the only thing not covered was taking cookies over to Kay’s house.  She is the 14 year old girl that was baptized this summer.  She has been having some medical issues and hasn’t been to church in a month.  Her phone is broken so that makes it really difficult to get in touch with her.  So my big idea on Monday was to take her family some freshly made chocolate chip cookies.  It was a snowy day and the kids were out of school for Veteran’s Day.  I figured my chances of finding someone home would be good.  I got there and knocked.  Then I hear, “Someone is at the door!”  No one comes to answer.  Just silence.  Then I hear the microwave beeping, no other sounds or people to answer the door.  I felt so rejected.  So I just left the cookies at the door. I know she’s havi...

Lots weather!

Trees in our front yard, from our 6 inch snow It’s been quite the week.  There’s been snow many of the days with little to no accumulation.  Wednesday we got 3 inches, and it was wet snow instead of the usual powdery stuff.  It made for some rough roads.  We were indoors that night, but found out there were some bad accidents and they closed the by-pass.  Most of the roads that head out of town here have a barrier that can go down (similar to a railroad crossing guard) to close it off for bad weather.  It only happened once while we were here last year.  I think this year will be quite a different story.  Today, it started snowing about 2 pm and the prediction was up to 2 inches.  So far we have 6 inches.  We did have a teaching appointment this afternoon and just went anyway.  We’ve got to get our snow driving skills going.  It was only 1 1/2 inches then but gained an additional inch by the time we were done.  Glad t...
