First Week of Seminary

Image
Us preparing for Seminary.  I was trying to capture all the papers everywhere, but it was tricky This week has seemed like it has all been about getting ready for and teaching Seminary.  Monday we saw Gary - picked some dragon tongue and green beans.  They just keep growing and growing.  Then we saw the Smiths.  With things getting worse, we were wondering if they would like us to visit more often.  When we asked them that question, Richard’s response was, “I don’t know why you aren’t living here!”  We feel so loved and appreciated.  We’re so grateful to be helpful in some way.   Our seminary set up, minus students.  We need to get permission from parents before posting their pictures. We visited them again on Friday.  Their town has a 4 day school week, so they are off on Fridays.  The kids were at their grandparents in Arizona for 6 weeks, so we hadn’t been able to see them for a while.  On Friday, the le...

Lots to Do

Flowers at the Pathways to Spiritual Sanctuary Monday, we were in Sheridan for a dentist appointment, a seminary meeting and a Zone council meeting.  President Bailey (he’s in the Stake presidency) is a pediatric dentist - so Dr. Bailey.  We were teasing him about being one of his patients and he said it was fine.  So we had a cleaning and x-rays on Monday morning.  I went first.  I leaned back in the chair, and there was a TV on the ceiling.  What!! These kids have it made.  The hygienist said they had Netflix and I could watch whatever I wanted.  Since I’m a missionary, I felt sticking to a Disney movie would be appropriate.  I watched “Coco.”  I am hooked.  We will definitely be getting all our cleanings done there. We met later that day with Brother Reid.  He is the CES (Church Education System) leader for this area.  He explained about Seminary, gave us some material, and answered any questions.  We didn...

Hard Work

Loved this motorcycle at Sturgis This week has been a big week of service - especially for Walt.  Monday he helped Keith put a new roof on their place.  They had a small leak before and then a big storm came on Sunday, creating a need for lots of buckets to catch all the water.  It was an aluminum roof, so it didn’t take long for things to really heat up.  They worked about 4 hours before quitting for the day, due to the heat.  I was spared and spent my time doing household duties and laundry.  Sometimes it really pays to be a female.   Walt working on Keith's roof.  Umbrellas make great shade! Our reward was going to Sturgis, SD.  Annually there is a motorcycle rally in this town.  I put a link in case you want to check out the info about it.  There can be as many as 600,000 bikers that attend during that week to 10 day period.  We have heard about this event since we moved here and I have been intrigued.  W...
