Wedding Reception

What a fun-filled week!  Monday, we had a few appointments and prepared for our trip to PA.  Walt did some physical service and got pretty worn out.  Tuesday was a physical day for both of us.  We went to the Ranch and helped them get ready for some company.  I have been “bragging” about my organizational skills, so Becky was ready for me to show her what I have.  Hopefully she was pleased with the results.  We worked on organizing most of the kitchen and I helped where I could on the pantry.  Walt’s jobs were all outside and it was pretty hot out there.  We were both pretty tired by the time we got home.   Hard Working Cowboy!! Wednesday started the real adventures.  The original plan was to drive to Ft Collins, where Walt had a dermatologist appointment.  This was the closest place that would take our insurance.  We were really grateful that we could get an appointment on the same day that we were flyi...

Ranching, Riding and Beautiful Skies

Sunset at the Temple We’ll start off the week with last Sunday evening.  Walt heard the Bishop talking about moving his cows from pasture to pasture and loved the idea of helping out.  He really loved riding the horse and herding cows before.  Since this event starts at 4 am, we decided spending the night would be the best plan.  We got to the Ranch around 7:30 pm and the Bishop had just gone to bed (just him).  He keeps the Sabbath and therefore, doesn’t do hay on that day.  Almost everyday we have been getting storms in the evening.  Not a good thing if you’re waiting on hay to dry so it can be baled.  So the Bishop’s plan was to get up at 12 am and get the day started.  Bless his heart.    The rest of the family stayed up and visited with us until about 9:30.  It would be a very early start and we needed some rest. Walt got up at 4 am, but I got to sleep until 4:45.  Sort of.  We put Walt’s things in t...

WEDDING!!

week was basically all about Kate and Drake getting married.  We were going to leave Monday, but left Sunday instead.  The drive is 9 hours and we wanted to break it up.  So Sunday, we drove to Rawlings, Wyoming.  We’ve heard of this town before, it’s where the larger State Penitentiary is and where guards go to train.  They have like a boot camp type training.  We have several people in our ward who work at the Honor Camp (very low key prison) in Newcastle. We left for Lehi, Utah (where the Ferrins live) Monday morning.  It was only a 5 hour drive, but we felt so done with being in the car by the time we got there.  Most of the journey was through Wyoming; just hills, mountains, and prairie.  We did pass by Independence Rock, a famous landmark that pioneers and other westward travelers used.  Evidently, if a person/group were traveling west, they needed to be past Independence Rock by the 4th of July to avoid getting caught ...
