The Temple is the House of the Lord

Wild flowers at the Big Horn (can see the snow capped mountains in the background) We won’t write too much about most of the week since the most exciting part was Friday and Saturday. At the beginning of the week, we had a few lessons to teach, District Council, and serving at the Senior Center.  We were finally able to finish putting up shutters for the Checketts and they really look nice.  I think the next project is shelves in a closet and I get to organize it.  Love it! It’s great being able to help the Bishop.  It’s haying season and that’s not something Walt can help with at all - he’s allergic to hay.  So we help where we can. We were able to help a new family of 7 move into the ward.  We are always excited about new people.  We need lots.  The youth all helped them with the move.  They are  still  looking for a house to rent and so had to move their stuff into a storage unit.  The youth were really great a...

Service and A Baptism

Lots of blooming Sweet Clover this spring! This week seemed to be the week of service.  The Bishop is busy like most Bishops are.  He spends most of the time at his ranch; which is 1 hour outside of town.  He does have a house in town as well, so the kids can go to good schools.  Like every husband, a “honey do” list gets made, and our Bishop has a hard time getting that list taken care of.  Walt has offered several times to work on that list for him.  We really like helping the Bishop in any way we can, and most times, he politely declines; saying so many others need help more than he does.  He finally consented and this week was our first chance.  The Bishop had ordered some pedestals for their washer and dryer (front loader) for Becky’s birthday several months ago.  They were still in the box.  They also needed the cabinet in the laundry room moved to accommodate the new height of the washer and dryer.  We got the cabinet m...

Girls Camp

Two (hurt) thumbs up!  We survived Girl's Camp. Monday was our only regular missionary day this week.  We were able to visit a couple of people and then finish preparing for Girl’s Camp.  We were quite grateful for a family in our ward who lent us plenty of camping gear.  At home, we have plenty, but didn’t think we would need sleeping bags and such on our mission.  They even had cots for us.  A couple of people had previously shared with us that blow up mattresses don’t fare well in Wyoming.  Every morning, they would be flat.  I guess due to either changes in the air temperature or the altitude - or maybe a combo of both.  We are taking their advice and going with cots. Getting prepared and packed took a little longer than anticipated.  Since it gets so cold up in the mountains, we prepared, as advised, for hot and cold weather.  That makes for quite a lot of “stuff”.  We had planned on taking our car top carrier...
