Amazing Week!

Sun setting while we ate our apple Such a Fun week!  This week was full of a great variety of things.   Monday through Wednesday morning was regular missionary work.  Monday was lunch at the Senior Center and then off for 3 visits in a row.  There is a road that’s a bit of the way outside of town where 3 families in our ward live.  So we visited all three on the same day.  We tried to time things where we would have time to go into town and get a quick bite, but that didn’t really happen.  We shared an apple and then had frozen pizza when we got home at 9 pm.  The blessing with that was watching the sunset while we ate the apple! A good day though.  We like to take cookies on our first visit.  This really breaks the ice with kids; especially teenage boys.  Our first family lives at the top of a very steep hill.  I think we wrote about that back when it was icy.  Mud proved to be just as challenging, although we did...

More Mud than Snow

All the road closures from the blizzard Who knew mud and snow would be such a popular theme for us.  It seems to snow at least once a week, usually not much - last time 6 inches.  There was a big blizzard on Wednesday except the snow went all around us.  We literally, in Newcastle, got only a dusting.  All around us was at least 12 inches or more.  Add the winds, that make monster snow drifts and it gets interesting.  At the Smith’s home, they had 5-6 foot snow drifts.  Their cars were totally covered.   Most big roads were closed for the blizzard That brings us to the mud.  There seems to be more dirt than asphalt here; especially in our driveway.  With warmer temperatures, comes melting snow, and mud - lots of mud.  Everywhere.  I finally started wearing my rain boots because they are much easier to clean off.  Walt needs to get a pair.  The mud is so thick in our driveway, that we asked Keith to b...

Getting Warmer!

Us at Devil's Tower - The adventure of the week We started this week with a temperature feeling like -24 degrees.  Today we are at 33 degrees.  What a big difference! We are loving every bit of it.  When it’s sunny, even better.  We should be in the 30’s most of this week.  We have a Brother in the ward that says he knows it’s spring when the Meadowlarks come.  He loves to hear them sing.  He hasn’t seen them yet, but promised he will let us know when they arrive.   Me, Angie and Walt serving lunch at the Sr Center Monday was pretty busy.  We had our lunch at the Senior Center and met 4 new people.  There are between 25-35 people that come every day.  The staff picks a number each day of how many people there will be.  To win for the day, they have to be exact.  The person who has the most wins in a month gets the pot of $20.  Each of them put in $5.  We don’t participate, but enjoy seeing how cl...
